Hunter Douglas Silhouette® Sheer Shades
What are sheer shades?
Sheers combine the soft light diffusion of a fabric shade with the adjustable vane control of a blind, filtering natural light while still allowing a view to the outside.
Soft fabric vanes are suspended between or attached to sheer fabric facings. When the vanes are open, light passes through the sheer material, filling the room with a gentle, diffused glow. When the vanes close, the shade provides privacy and blocks direct sunlight.

Silhouette® Sheer Shades
This collection features soft, horizontal fabric vanes suspended between two layers of sheer fabric. The vanes tilt to control light and privacy while the sheer facings diffuse incoming light and reduce UV exposure. Silhouette® Sheer Shades are available in a range of vane sizes and fabric opacities, and they remain one of the most popular sheer window shades on the market.
Pirouette® Sheer Shades
Pirouette® shades use soft, horizontal fabric vanes attached to a single sheer backing. When the vanes are open, the shade has a soft, layered texture. When closed, the vanes flatten against the backing, giving the shade a smooth, uniform appearance. This versatility offers dynamic light and privacy throughout the day.
Sheer shades operating systems
Hunter Douglas sheer shades from Little Blind Spot are available with several operating systems.
- LiteRise® cordless - raise or lower the shade by hand with a gentle push or pull, with no visible cords
- UltraGlide® - retractable cord maintains a consistent length regardless of shade position
- EasyRise™ - continuous cord loop provides smooth, clutch-driven operation – great for larger or heavier sheer shades
- PowerView® Automation - full motorization with remote control, app-based scheduling, and smart home integration for hands-free daily use
The right operating system depends on the window location, the shade's size, and how you use the space.

Frequently asked questions about sheer shades
Can you see through sheer shades?
Yes and no. When the vanes are open, you can easily see the view outside. When the vanes are closed, sheer shades offer perfect privacy.
Are sheer shades, sheers, and sheer shadings the same?
Yes. You may have heard similar verbiage to “sheer shades,” but all these terms refer to the same kind of product: light-diffusing sheer fabric that offers a great balance of light and privacy.
Do sheer shades offer a room-darkening feature?
Yes! Hunter Douglas sheer shades offer the Duolite® system and A Deux™ design for homeowners who love sheers but need a little more privacy. Both systems feature a room-darkening roller shade that sits tucked into the headrail until you’re ready for it.
